The quarry currently employs 20 people, plus many contractors, suppliers and hauliers. The site is also supported by Tarmac’s wider team who provide technical and commercial support for Tarmac’s quarries across Scotland. In total Tarmac directly employs around 300 people in Scotland, and 6000 in total across the UK.

The products from Ravelrig quarry make an important contribution to the wider economy of the Edinburgh area including the maintenance and new construction of roads, railways, homes, business premises and public buildings.
